Washington D.C. 18th February 2020 – The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned a unit of Russia’s largest oil producer Rosneft, for maintaining ties with Venezuela and facilitating the sale and distribution of Venezuela’s crude oil. The sanctioned unit was Rosneft Trading SA, a Swiss-incorporated brokerage firm. OFAC also sanctioned Rosneft’s Vice President for Refining, Petrochemical, Commerce, and Logistics Didier Casimiro. Under General license No 36, OFAC prohibits after 20th May 2020  all transactions with Rosneft Trading SA or any other entity in which the company owns directly or indirectly 50%.
