Washington D.C. 3th March 2020 – Last week the Venezuela interim government led by Juan Guaido finally made a certiorari petition to the US Supreme Court in the famous Crystallex International expropriation case. The Venezuelan administration is trying to review a Third Circuit appellate decision granting the defunct Canadian miner the ability to pursue the attachment of PDV Holding shares, the holding company of CITGO.  In January, the District Court of Delaware conditioned a continuation of its stay on the case on Venezuela’s submission of any Supreme Court petition in a timely manner, following a request from the Plaintiff. As result of the process initiated in the Supreme Court, several other litigants in the US seeking arbitration judgments have had their cases stayed until the final resolution of Crystallex matter.
